Seasoned actress Rita Avila defended GMA Afternoon Prime series Lilet Matias, Attorney At Law after one of its scenes received criticism.
In one of the show's episodes, Lilet (Jo Berry) was bullied by her classmates in law school. This prompted a netizen to criticize the show.
On Instagram, Rita accepted the criticism, but she explained that the show still reflected the reality, especially in law school.
Given 'yun.
Lilet Matias, Attorney At Law has been shooting court and other law-related scenes under the guidance of Atty. Bem Sabanal.
During the show's press conference on February 24, Atty. Bem explained the process of the show with regard to legal terms and processes.
She explained, "Before the script is sent out to the actors, we go through a consultation, nandoon na 'yung mga legal terms, legal procedures, legal processes.
"Of course, the story, buo na kasi siya. And so what I do is make sure na correct 'yung sinasabi nila, at correct 'yung proseso sa korte, especially 'pag mayroong eksena sa loob ng court, I have to be there."
On Lilet Matias, Attorney-At-Law, Jo plays the titular character, a little person who has big dreams of fighting for people like her in a world full of injustices, discrimination, sexism, abuse, and poverty.
Joining Jo and Rita in the Philippines' first-ever legal series are Sheryl Cruz, Bobby Andrews, Jason Abalos, Lloyd Samartino, Troy Montero, Glenda Garcia, Sharmaine Santiago, Ariel Villasanta, and Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan.
Also part of the cast of Lilet Matias, Attorney at Law are EA Guzman, Analyn Barro, Joaquin Domagoso, Zonia Mejia, Jenzel Angeles, and Hannah Arguelles.
Lilet Matias, Attorney At Law airs Mondays to Fridays, 3:20 P.M. on GMA Afternoon Prime.
