Kapuso actor Rocco Nacino is ready to take on international Jiu-jitsu competitions.

Aside from being one of the best actors of GMA Network, Rocco Nacino is also known as an active martial artist, particularly in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He even started a school to teach the martial arts to kids to help them learn self-defense.

Now that he's proven himself great at the sport by teaching and winning competitions, Rocco is now 'gigil' to try his skills in international competitions.

The Oxford English Dictionary recently added 600 new words and phrases in its March 2025 update, including 11 words, including the word “gigil.” While originally Tagalog, the word is now also used in Philippine English.

The word “gigil” is described as an intense feeling where people have the irresistible urge to tightly clench their hands, grit their teeth, or pinch whomever or whatever it is that the person finds adorable.

Before going to the Kapuso Mall Show in Manila held last March 30, Rocco shared with GMANetwork.com that he came from his martial arts training.

“Nagte-training ako kanina for jiu-jitsu and on Saturday (April 6) kasi, lalaban ako sa isang international tournament. It's called the Marianas Open in which kapag nanalo ako ng medal, gold, silver or bronze, I get to go to Guam for free, covered na 'yun, and I get to fight for 50,000 dollars,” Rocco said.

On April 6, the day of his fight, Rocco shared on his Instagram page that there wasn't anyone who registered who was in his weight division. But instead of opting out, the actor decided to take on the heavier weight division, and even took on the open weight division.

However, the actor said that he learned his lesson to stay in his weight division.

“Lesson learned.🤣 got ragdolled all afternoon and got submitted in all my matches. Lost, but now I know my weaknesses in my Jiu-Jitsu game against bigger opponents,” he said.

Rocco also expressed his appreciation to have the chance to fight against the opponents he faced, which helped him overcome his doubts to fight heavier fighters.

“Good job Rocco, now time to improve your jiu-jitsu,” Rocco wrote.

The Kaspuso actor and martial artist then left a message to all fighters, “A reminder to everyone who competes in jiujitsu, never let a loss from a competition destroy your confidence and stop you from training again, showing up is a win already. Losing is finding what you need to work on when you train again.”

Rocco also thanked his wife, Melissa Gohing, and son, EZ, who were there to support him and cheer for him.
