Kapuso Primetime Action Hero Ruru Madrid shared photos on Instagram showing his first day of filming for Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival 2026 entry titled Kamay ni Bathala.
Giving fans an exclusive look into the production, Ruru uploaded a series of behind-the-scenes photos from their first day on set.
In the photos, the actor is seen sporting a complete army uniform, a visual teaser that practically confirms he will be portraying a member of the army in the upcoming film.
“Day 1. #Cinemalaya2026,” Ruru wrote in the caption.
The narrative of Kamay ni Bathala, written and directed by Mark Duane Angos, revolves around Ruru's character, Edgardo Reyes, a young army lieutenant dispatched to a remote Mindanao community plagued by armed conflict.
Seeking to impact the area positively, he introduces football to the local youth. Despite his good intentions, he is met with severe resistance, suspicion, and lack of trust from the villagers.
The 2026 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival is scheduled to run from August 6 through August 18.
Beyond Kamay ni Bathala, Ruru is also starring in another highly anticipated movie project, Los Salvajes Bravos.
On the television, the actor is gearing up to co-headline the upcoming GMA Prime series Hari ng Tondo alongside Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo.
