Social media personality and actor Sassa Gurl recently celebrated a movement honoring LGBTQIA+ representation in Filipino Cinema.
In an Instagram post, Sassa shared photos of her “Themis Libertas” look, inspired by her 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries, featuring her Lady Justice ensemble along with a message of appreciation to Filipino Cinema.
“Here lies a celebration of a trans woman in white, inspired by her two MMFF feature films,” she began.
“This ensemble draws from Lady Justice's divine law not as a distant symbol, but as a living presence among us. In this climate, justice walks, breathes, and exists in trans bodies,” she said.
The content creator shared that it was “more than a personal win” for her, as it is a “cultural milestone and a victory” for the trans community.
“Simpleng ambag sa Filipino Cinema at ito ay utang na loob ko sa lahat ng queer and trans icon na nagpatag ng industriyang nilalakaran ko ngayon. Ito ay panalo di lang sa akin kundi para ng representation at visibility ng lahat ng trans at baklang gustong tahakin ito,” she expressed.
She also expressed gratitude to her inspirations in the community, including John Sweet Lapus, IC Mendoza, the late comedian Chokoleit, Kaladkaren, Iyah Mina, Bb. Gandanghari, Paolo Ballesteros, and the one and only Vice Ganda.
“Maraming salamat sa inyong inspirasyon at aalagaan ko ang legacy na inyong iiwan sa lahat ng katulad ko. Pasabog kayo,” she said.
Sassa starred in two MMFF films, including Bar Boys: After School and Shake, Rattle, & Roll: Evil Origins.
Recently, Sassa confirmed on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda that she was dating someone.
"This time around, mas matalino na 'ko sa pagmamahal, non-showbiz siya," Sassa said.
She added, "Naniniwala ako na kailangan ko ng very non-showbiz at tahimik so ayun, I want a tahimik na buhay. Nag-d-date pa lang naman, Tito Boy, so hindi ko ma-flex ngayon. Malay mo baka bigla akong i-ghost, di ba?"
