Shamaine and Nonie Buencamino both took part in 'Pushcart Tales.'
Shamaine Buencamino continues to prove her caliber in the world of acting as she bagged the Best Actress award at a local film festival.
The seasoned actress clinched the accolade at the first-ever Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival awards night for her role in the film Pushcart Tales by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo.
The Best Actress award was presented by veteran actress Boots Anson-Roa.
In her acceptance speech, Shamaine expressed her appreciation for her husband, Nonie Buencamino, who also starred with her in the film.
"Ang pinaka-pinasasalamatan ko po ay ang aking kabiyak, ang aking love team, na si Nonie Buencamino," she said.
Shamaine recounted how she hoped Nonie would accept the role when he got the call for it.
"Hindi po kami package deal. Ako po muna 'yung tumanggap tapos tinawagan din siya. Nagdadasal ako noon na tanggapin niya pero wala akong sinasabi kasi siyempre I didn't want to influence his decision. Eh, sa edad ko pong ito eh mahirap na pong makipag-kissing scene sa lalaki kaya pinadali niya ang trabaho ko," she mused.
Shamaine also highlighted how it was Nonie who took care of her on their shoot days.
"Siya po talaga ang nag-alaga sa akin habang nags-shoot kami ng pelikulang ito. Dad, this is for you," she continued.
Shamaine also thanked her co-actors, the staff and their director, Sigrid Andrea Bernardo.
"Sa akin pong direktor, ito na. Pangalawang pelikula ko po ito kay Sig, umuwi kaming talunan noon. Pareho kami siyempreng malungkot pero si Sig po yung direktor na... tinawagan niya ko para dito. Hindi ko po hiningi yung script, tinanggap ko na lang po agad kasi naniniwala po ako sa kanya. Hindi lang dahil maganda ang script kundi magaling po siya," she said.
Shamaine previously worked with Sigrid Andrea Bernardo in the 2014 film Lorna.
Sigrid Andrea Bernardo bagged the Best Director award for Pushcart Tales.
Meanwhile, Carlos Siguion-Reyna, who also starred in Pushcart Tales, was one of the Best Actor awardees for the night.
Pushcart Tales took home the Special Jury Prize, Best Ensemble, and Best Sound Design at the film festival.
