Shamcey Supsup and Michelle Dee

Pressing commitments here in the country have led to Shamcey Supsup being unable to travel to El Salvador to support Michelle Dee.

Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee is in the thick of the Miss Universe pageant preliminary competition, and while she does have the support of the Filipino people behind her, one important name will be unable to head to El Salvador to show their support.

In a post on her official Instagram account, Miss Universe Philippines organization national director Shamcey Supsup announced that she would be unable to physically go to El Salvador to show her support of Michelle due to “commitments” here in the country.

Nevertheless, the former beauty queen shared that she would be cheering on Michelle “in spirit and prayer”. Shamcey also described Michelle as someone who embodies a Miss Universe Philippines quuen - “someone who genuinely uses her platform to uplift others.”

While Shamcey may not be in El Salvador to show her support, Michelle can be assured that she still has plenty of people in her corner. Just a couple of days ago, Michelle's close friend Rhian Ramos campaigned for votes for her through an Instagram post.

Rhian posted a couple of photos of herself with Michelle, writing in the caption that she and her followers still have a chance to help out Michelle raise the flag for the Philippines by voting for her on the Miss Universe app.

That support from her friends and Filipinos will surely complement her great performance in the preliminary rounds of the pageant. Earlier today, Michelle was named one of the 10 Silver finalists in the Miss Universe Voice for Change competition. Aside from her, the other finalists were Miss Angola Ana Coimbra, Brazil's Maria Brechane, Chile's Celeste Viel, Lebanon's Maya Abou El Hosn, Puerto Rico's Karla Acevedo, Singapore's Priyanka Annuncia, South Africa's Bryoni Govender, Ukraine's Angelina Usanova, and Zimbabwe's Brooke Bruk-Jackson.

Michelle also shared that she was satisfied with her performance during the pageant's closed-door interview, where she hoped that the “most important aspects” of her individuality were “well received and understood by the judges.”
