
Megastar Sharon Cuneta has been a fitspiration to her followers since she started her journey to healthy living in 2016.
In an interview with talent manager and entertainment vlogger Ogie Diaz, the singer-actress shared how she was able to achieve her weight loss by lessening the food intake.
She noted that one key to losing weight is instead of people wondering how to get thin, they should be asking, 'Paano ka tumaba?'
She explained, “Ang nakakatuwa o nakakatawang tanong ng tao lagi... dati tinatanong ko rin yun, 'Paano ka pumaya?' Actually, dapat ang ginagawa mo, isipin mo, paano ka tumaba.
"So, yung paano ka tumaba, di baliktarin mo, tumaba ka kasi umo-over-eat ka. “Yung imbis na ma-satisfy ka sa isang slice ng cake, inuubos mo yung kalahati o yung buong cake, hindi naman pala kailangan. So, natuto akong mag bawas.”
Megastar started her weight loss journey by gradually eating less food, "Ang ginawa ko, slowly but surely."
She further explained, "So ngayon, pinaka-effective sa akin ['yon]. Kapag nasanay yung tiyan mo na ganito lagi kapuno, mahihirapan kang magdiyeta. So, the minute na tiniis mo yung binawasan mo, 'tapos, naghahanap pa yung tiyan mo... 'Tapos, nasanay na siyang doon sa nag-shrink siya, huwag mo na pabayaan. So, kapag nasanay na yung tummy mo konti lang, disiplinahin mo na 'yung sarili mo. It will really help. Parang pag nasanay siyang konti lang, konti lang hahanapin mo.
"So, ang effective sa 'kin, small meals. Kahit six times a day, pero very small. Minsan nga tikim-tikim lang ako, e. 'Tapos, mamaya gusto ko uli. Kain ibon.”
Sharon said that however long it will take, she will continue with what she's doing to achieve her weight goals.
“Wala pa ako sa ideal weight ko pero disente. Presentable na,” she said.
Sharon said that an important realization led her to start losing weight.
"Inumpisahan ko ito noong January 2016. Sabi ko, 'Ayaw ko na, it's for my health. 'Yung akin, yung health na lang para maabutan ko at makipagtakbuhan pa ako sa mga apo ko na parating.
"At saka ang daming umaasa sa akin, 'di puwedeng bigla akong magka-heart attack. Kasi, ang taas ng blood pressure ko noon so I got very, very scared, dinahan-dahan ko,” Sharon stated.
She added that as an actress, she also felt guilty that she failed her fans by gaining weight since she knows fans aspire to be their idols.
“Nakakahiyang lumabas sa TV na hindi mo nasusuot 'yung gusto mong damit, tapos yung pagkakakilala nila sa'yo na kung bakit ka nila minahal, kaya ka nila naging idolo kasi aspirational e,” the megastar added.
Sharon, however, revealed that she still binge eats from time to time “pero disiplinado.”
“It's gradual, e, tamad ako minsan, nagbi-binge din ako, nagke-crave ako,” she added.
Despite not weighing herself, Sharon said that she sees the fruits of her determination whenever she fits for a new dress or shops for one and the former size she wears is now too big for her.
“So, parang dun ko nakikita. Mas importante yung inches yung nababawas,” she added.
