
Kapuso star and soon-to-be mommy Sheena Halili is among the celebrity moms who are carrying their lockdown babies. For Sheena, it is her first pregnancy and so she's just discovering the joys and sacrifices that comes with it for the first time.
Sheena Halili talks about benefits of pre-natal pilates
In her recent guesting on Mars Pa More, Sheena revealed that she was on bed rest during the first trimester because she had a bad case of morning sickness, and even had hyperthyroidism that's why she lost weight despite being pregnant.
And aside from those, she also recounted how she had to fight off severe anxiety.
“Natutulog ako (tapos) gigising na lang ako na umiiyak. And then bigla na lang sasabihin kong, 'Babe, parang gusto kong umiyak,' tapos iiyak lang ako, hagulgol lang.
“So sinabi ko 'yon sa OB ko. Nag-a-anxiety attack pala ako.
“Sabi mas maganda breathing exercises: yoga, meditation, and pilates, para mas ma-excite ako, matuto ako kasi bago 'to sa akin.
So, Sheena heeded her OB-Gyne's advice and tried out pre-natal pilates, which fortunately turned out to be very beneficial for her, her baby, and her husband as well.
“Mas naging tama 'yung tulog ko and then 'yung asawa ko mismo nagsabi sa'kin na, “Alam mo ituloy mo 'yan,' kasi nawala rin 'yung stress niya.” (laughs)
Sheena then highlighted the importance of doing pre-natal pilates.
“Itong workout na 'to ipe-prepare ang mga mommies for childbirth para mas madali tayong makabalik sa ating activity pagkatapos nating manganak.”
She warned though that pregnant moms should take precaution when working out and should always do so under the supervision of a trainer.
“Kailangan mong (tantsahin) yung timing kasi kapagka medyo nagmadali ka baka ma-out of balance ka, lalo na meron tayong bola.”
“Ang hirap kumilos 'pag mommies, kapag buntis, kaya dapat talaga maghinay-hinay tayo and mas maganda may trainer, lalo na kapag first time n'yo sa mga bagong workout.”
Sheena then showed her pre-natal pilates routine with Coach Citadel Bernardo of Options Studio BGC.
Her warm up exercises included shoulder rolls, walking side to side, and rotational stretch
And as for her pre-natal pilates routine, Sheen used an exercise ball and did the following:
1. Hip Circle
2. Pelvic Tilt
3. Mermaid
4. Abs on ball (Upper body and lower body curl ups)
