Sid Lucero

Sid Lucero shares his life's struggles that helped him become the man he is today.

Actor Sid Lucero candidly opened up about the different abuses he endured and had gone through for most part of his life.

“When I was growing up with my dad, he had issues and it came out, and of course, it affected the marriage and us, the kids,” he shared in the recent mediacon for his movie Silip sa Apoy.

As he was growing up, his environment, at some point became a little too hostile to the point that he also was inflicting abuse on himself.

“I was bullied in school, that's another form of abuse. I abused myself in the gym, if I go to the gym, all the time. I came from a really dark past with substances which I did to myself, that's another form of abuse,” he added.

Sid also noted the blatant abuses every Filipino suffers from including him practically every day because of greed of some people in position. To him, this is an abuse that unfortunately drags on with almost an impossible end in sight.

“I'm also a Filipino and I live in a country where we should be getting more than we deserve, which means I'm surrounded by people who abuse their power. The abuse goes on and on,” he said.

Just like those who have fallen repeatedly into the cycle, he made an effort to get his pieces back together and is now doing well.

“And then, in the middle of my career, I kinda fell back into it and then let my ego swallow me up basically,” he added.

“And then, I spent the last nine years to get myself back together. I think I'm doing okay,” he continued.

On the flipside, his experiences greatly help him ace his many challenging roles both on television and movies.

One example would be his effective portrayal of an abusive live-in partner in the aforementioned movie. Opposite sexy star Angeli Khang, Sid draws light from his dark past to give justice to his craft.

Silip sa Apoy is now streaming on VivaMax.
