Sparkle Artists in a tree planting activity

Sparkle artists go on a tree-planting activity in partnership with Nestle

Sparkle Stars Shuvee Etrata, Angela Alarcon, Seb Pajarillo, Sandro Muhlach, John Clifford, Nikki Co, Nikki Van, and Zyren dela Cruz recently attended and joined a tree-planting activity at the La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City.

The tree planting was one of the activities organized by Nestle Philippines, in partnership with GMA Network, that aims to support the National Greening Program which targets to plant 2,500 endemic tree saplings annually.

Even though the stars woke up bright and early for the event, they expressed how excited they were to join the tree-planting activity. In an interview with GMANetwork.com, John mentioned that it was his second time to join this kind of activity.

“Medyo matagal na so sobrang excited po ako makapag-tree planting ulit here in Manila kasi 'yung last time po, I did in Cebu so I'm super excited,” he said.

Nikki Van also mentioned that she used to participate in tree planting events before and expressed her excitement to inspire others to join this activity.

Zyren, meanwhile, admitted that while this is his first time to join, he's excited and happy to be part of the project.

“Sana po magkaroon po ng impact para sa ating Mother Earth kaya po super excited talaga,” he added.

Seb and Sandro also expressed their excitement being part of Nestle's activity. The last time they joined was the coastal clean-up in Navotas.

When asked how he felt that he needed to wake up early, Seb answered, “Masaya, masaya, kasi productive agad e, gigising ka na alam mong makakatulong ka sa environment. Masarap sa feelng for me.”

Nikki Co also said that even though he's not a morning person, he's more than happy to wake up early for activities like this.

“Kahit na hindi tayo morning person, gusto nating gumising ng maaga kasi magpa-plant tayo ng trees today and we make a difference,” he said.

Angela describes being chosen to represent the youth in the activity as heartwarming, and said that it was a privilege for her to “speak up for the truth, share the knowledge and the information to our fellow youth.”

“We also have the responsibility to share sa mga Kapuso kung ano ang puwede nating itulong,” she said.

Shuvee also mentioned that she will be forever grateful for the opportunity to help plant trees as it has been part of her advocacy since she was young.

“Since I was young, I've been planting trees. So right now, siguro in-extend ko lang sa Manila 'yung advocacy, and I'm really happy to be part of it,” she said.

After the tree-planting event, the Sparkle stars expressed how they enjoyed it, and how they were glad to make a contribution to help the environment.

“For me kasi kahit konting contribution lang po, parang big contribution na siya agad e kasi kahit isang tree lang 'yan, ang laking tulong ng oxygen, ang laki na ng tulong para sa ating environment,” Sandro said.

Seb, meanwhile, described his experience as amazing, and while he admitted that the activity was tiring, it was worth it.

“Masasabi naman nating madali, almost anyone can do it, ang kailangan n'yo lang talaga is 'yung belief na gusto n'yo talagang makatulong sa environment,” he added.

Nikki Co revealed that he saw the activity as a team-building activity for them, the Sparkle artists.

“Hindi mo na maiisip 'yung pagod 'pag nandun ka na. Ok lang pawisan ka, madumihan ka, pero 'yung overall naman na goal natin dito is help the environment,” he said.

Angela, meanwhile, expressed how happy she is that there is a community that is willing to help plant trees and take care of the environment.

“Nakaka-inspire po to have a better change in the environment, and to be a good example po sa youth natin,” she added.

Zyren and John also expressed how they enjoyed the activity, with the latter saying that he felt that it was a time for them to bond with each other and at the same time, help the environment.

On the other hand, Zyren said, “Nag-enjoy din po talaga kasi nakikita ko po 'yung marami pong tao na nagpa-participate or nagsasama-sama para po sa better change po, lalo na sa kalikasan po natin.”

Both admitted that they didn't feel tired at all, saying that it's what they want to do, to help the environment.

Nikki Van also expressed how inspiring it is to see people together “for one goal which is to plant trees and save the environment.”

Shuvee, on the other hand, expressed her thanks to Sparkle GMA Artist Center for giving them the chance and opportunity to protect the environment and to give back as artists.
