It seems like Kim Seon-ho fans won't need to wait too long to see their new favorite K-drama actor on screen.
According to reports, Kim Seon-ho, who played the smart and dashing Han Ji-pyeong in Netflix's Start-Up, is considering playing the lead role in the remake of Mr. Hong.
The drama, originally released in 2004 with Kim Joo-hyuk and Uhm Jung-hwa, follows the quirky adventures of a man named Hong Doo-shik, who works multiple odd jobs and is considered a neighborhood superhero who loves helping people out.
According to reports, playing opposite Kim Seon-ho is Oh My Venus actress Shin Min-a, who will take the role of Yoon Hey-jin, a dentist who moves to a small rural town to open up her own clinic.
The drama will be written by Shin Ha-eun, who wrote The Crowned Clown, and is slated to air in the first half of 2021.
If confirmed, this will be the first time the two will be paired for a K-drama.
Kim Seon-ho recently opened up to Cosmopolitan Korea to talk about his booming career and how he became an actor.
He explained, “Thanks to the leading actors of the drama 'Start-Up,' I gained a lot of Instagram followers. Many foreign fans leave comments, and it's so fascinating and feels nice, but nothing else has really changed.”
Talking about his career, the 34-year-old actor also explained how he got into acting, which stemmed from wanting his parents to see him on television.
“It must be different from everyone,” he began.
“My parents have only been to the movie theater a few times in their lives. I wanted to show them that their son is an actor, so it was better to be on TV than in films.
“However, that opportunity didn't come easily. I got to audition when I was doing the play 'Closer,' and luckily, I was given the role of Sun Sang-tae in 'Good Manager' where it all began.”
In the interview, the Start-Up actor noted that he doesn't see himself doing anything besides acting for the rest of his life.
“Everyone thinks they're the main character in life. I feel as if I would have worked at a company with that mindset. Honestly, I'm not sure.
“What else could I be good at besides acting? I've only learned about acting, and I can't think of what else I would like to do. It's important to do something well, but I think it's also important to ask yourself, 'Will I be happy and enjoy doing this?'”
Kim Seon-ho also shared his plans for the year ahead: giving back to the people who have supported him in his career.
He told the interviewer, “So there are times when I got emotional [this year].
“In 2021, I want to repay the love I received. I want to greet people who have supported and helped me by showing the good sides of me and a good project.”
