Sunshine Cruz is set to make her acting comeback after receiving clearance from her neurologist amid her ongoing battle with myasthenia gravis. The actress is preparing to be return to work after stepping away from showbiz for three years to focus on her health.

In a Facebook post, Sunshine revealed that she had turned down numerous projects over the years as she prioritized her recovery from myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disorder that affects communication between nerves and muscles.

"For 3 years, I've declined movies and projects due to my myasthenia gravis. Grateful to always be considered but I didn't want to burden the prod if my AI suddenly flares up so I opted to focus on my health journey instead," she wrote.

According to the Mayo Clinic, myasthenia gravis occurs when communication between nerves and muscles breaks down, causing muscle weakness and fatigue.

Sunshine shared that she recently received medical clearance from her neurologist, allowing her to accept a new acting project.

"Few weeks ago, I got a call to guest in a series. My Neuro gave me a clearance," she said.

The actress also expressed excitement about the opportunity, especially because it will allow her to work alongside an actor she has long admired.

"Excited to be a part of a series of this actor who I have been wanting to work with. Health still comes first but 2 days of taping wouldn't hurt. ," she added.

In a separate post last May, Sunshine celebrated another milestone in her recovery journey.

"Just got my clearance from my neurologist. After three years, cleared and ok na to shoot for an upcoming series. Looking forward and excited for this! #myastheniagraviswarrior"

Sunshine last appeared in the television series Unbreak My Heart in 2023.

The actress first publicly spoke about her diagnosis during a fashion event in 2025, revealing that the condition affected parts of her face and caused muscle weakness that made it difficult for her to support her neck.
