Foreign entry visa fees to Japan to increase fivefold
The Japanese government announced on Friday that single-entry visa fees for foreign nationals will increase fivefold, from 3,000 yen (about P1,170) to 15,000 yen (around P5,850), for applications filed starting July 1.
“At today’s ministerial meeting, a decision on the partial revision of the ordinance on visa fees and related charges was made,” Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said during a press conference.
Fees for multiple-entry visas will also rise from 6,000 yen (about P2,340) to 30,000 yen (around P11,700).
Earlier, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Endo Kazuya said Japan is studying measures to make travel easier for Filipinos.
“Actually, this is one of the most frequently asked questions asked of me. Our embassy has been making steady efforts to improve and streamline the application processes,” Endo said.
“We will continue to explore what further improvements and arrangements may be possible going forward,” he added.
