In 2016, Sushmita Sen returned to the Philippines to be part of the judging panel that would choose the next Miss Universe, the successor of Pia Wurtzbach. It was Iris Mittenaere of France who took home the title.

For this year's competition that will be held in Puerto Rico, the country will be represented by Bea Millan-Windorski.
