Martin Del Rosario unafraid to be typecast in queer roles
Martin Del Rosario has portrayed various LGBT+ characters throughout his career.
On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Tuesday, the actor said he accepts these roles “as long as maganda ‘yung story, ikagaganda ‘to ng career ko.”
Martin is also unafraid of getting typecast.
“I see to it na bawat gay role na ginagawa ko, iba-iba naman eh. So hindi ka mata-typecast as long as hindi pare-parehas ‘yung binibigay mo,” he said.
For the upcoming Cinemalaya film “Tayo Lang ang Nakakaalam,” Martin said he portrays a “sobrang restrained” gay man.
He also does not fear gossip or judgment coming from these types of roles, sharing that he does not react if his sexuality gets questioned.
“Kahit nga mag-gossip or imbistigahan pa nila ‘ko, hindi ako na-a-affect kasi simula nung pumasok ako sa showbiz, which is 16 years ago, hanggang ngayon may ganun, parang manhid ka na,” Martin said. “I don’t care."
Martin recently starred in the GMA Afternoon Prime series, “House of Lies.”
In “Tayo Lang ang Nakakaalam,” he stars with Yayo Aguila and Miguel Ordon. —Nika Roque/CDC, GMA News
