
Production has officially begun for the live-action adaptation of Gundam in Queensland, Australia.
On X, Netflix announced that the highly anticipated project will be headlined by Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo. The story is set amid a long-standing war in space.
Joining the cast are Jackson White, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Javon Walton, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Ida Brooke, Gemma Chua-Tran, and Jason Isaacs.
Gundam, the iconic franchise that launched a global phenomenon, is now in production.

Under the direction of Jim Mickle, the film will follow the original story of rival mech pilots fighting on opposing sides of a decade-long conflict between Earth and its space colonies.
“As shifting allegiances and a growing threat set them on a collision course for one another, they're pulled into a high-stakes race across the stars that could define the fate of humanity. With awe-inspiring battles, intimate human emotion, and an epic cinematic scale, this is Gundam like it's been seen before."
As of writing, Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for the film.
