TWICE's Jeongyeon is venturing into acting and will now promote as actress Yoo Jeong-yeon.
The K-pop star has signed an exclusive contract with VARO Entertainment, the agency announced on August 10.
Her move comes after she was confirmed to appear in the upcoming film Shinbyeong: The Movie, marking a new chapter in her career outside of her activities as a member of TWICE.
Jeongyeon debuted with TWICE in 2015 under JYP Entertainment and has since built a global career with the nine-member girl group.
VARO Entertainment expressed confidence in the singer's potential as an actress, citing her dedication and enthusiasm for the craft.
“We are sincerely delighted to build a meaningful relationship with Yoo Jeong-yeon, who has diverse charms and limitless potential,” the agency said as reported by The Korea Times.
The company also assured that it will support her acting pursuits while helping her maintain her commitments to TWICE. It said her established presence as a global artist will serve as a strong foundation as she takes on new opportunities in acting.
Jeongyeon will be working alongside her older sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon, who is also represented by VARO Entertainment. The agency's roster includes actors Jin Goo, Byeon Woo-seok, Park Jung-woo, Lee Yoo-mi, Lee Hong-nae, Lee Soo-kyung, Lee Chae-min, and Kim Si-a.
