Kapuso sexy comedienne Valeen Montenegro is using her social media presence in good use to help a friend.

On her Instagram Story, Valeen pleads for plasma donation for a friend, whose mother is currently battling COVID-19 at a hospital in Cebu.

Valeen reposted her friend's post, “My Mother, with blood type O+, is now confined in Cebu Doctor's University Hospital due to COVID-19. We are in dire need of plasma from COVID patients who have recovered.

“If there is anyone out there who is willing to donate plasma, please PM me your contact number and we will call you.

“We shall be very careful for the help you can extend to our family. God bless

She also added, "If you know anyone please send me a DM [direct message]."

Convalescent plasma therapy is one of the methods health experts are currently using to treat patients infected with the coronavirus as there are no available vaccine yet.

In an article by GMA News Online, they cited the Facebook post of Dr. Thad Hinunangan on how convalescent plasma transfusion can help sick patients.

"Convalescent plasma is plasma taken from a person who has recovered from an infection and contains neutralizing antibodies against the said infection,"

"Giving convalescent plasma to susceptible individuals or infected patients is a form of passive antibody therapy,"
