Director Romy Suzara's family has not released as statement yet. He was 83.

Veteran filmmaker Romy Suzara passed away at the age of 83, as confirmed by Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. in a post on his Facebook page yesterday, August 22.

Suzara was known for directing Mga Uod at Rosas, Pepeng Shotgun and Revilla's own film Pag-ibig Ko Sa Iyo'y Totoo which, according to the senator, is one of his “humbling and worthy experiences” during the span of his acting career.

“It is with heavy heart to announce the passing of one of the Philippine movie industry's most prolific and seasoned filmmakers - Direk Romy Suzara,” he said in his post.

“Nakakalungkot at napakasakit po na isa na naman sa mga malalapit sa atin sa industriya ang namaalam,” he added.

Just recently, it was announced that actress Cherie Gil passed away. Last Julu, director and actor Phillip Lazaro died due to multiple organ failure.

Revilla also said that Suzara left his mark in art and films, and how he made all of the actors and actresses he has worked with feel like they are part of a family. He also thanked the director for sharing his “life, passion, and excellence with us.”

“Ang iyong talento at pagmamahal sa industriya ng Pelikulang Pilipino ay hinding-hindi namin malilimutan,” he added. “Rest in God's loving embrace. Until we meet again.”

As of this writing, Suzara's family has yet to release any statements regarding his passing.

Aside from Revilla, Suzara worked with other veteran actors such as Rudy Fernandez and Johnny Delgado, both of whom have already passed away. He also worked with Camille Prats on Sarah.. Ang munting Prinsesa and Tom Taus on Cedie.

Suzara also won best director for Mga Uod at Rosas in 1982 at the first Film Academy of the Philippines awards.
