'Biyahe ni Drew' learns how to make Gainza, Cam Sur's own version of Pinangat.

Are you looking for a way to spice up your palate this 2020 with traditional Filipino cuisine?

In this little town of Gainza in Camarines Sur, Biyahe ni Drew discovered a special recipe that became a Bicolano pride - the Pinangat of Aling Zenaida.

Kapuso host Drew Arellano visited the oldest ancestral house owned by the former mayor of Gainza where he was invited in to get a taste of the famous Pinangat in Gainza. In their culture, it is customary to always accept the invitation of the host.

Pinangat is a popular Philippine dish from Southern Luzon that is richly flavored with coconut milk or gata, gabi leaves, tanglad, and chili. Its name originated from a Filipino term pangat which means “to cook in a broth.”

Aling Zenaida's Pinangat is so famous in their town due to its unique taste and a secret ingredient. According to Aling Zenaida, she even declined the offer a Bicol-based fast-food chain that wanted to buy her recipe.

Learn how to make Aling Zenaida's own take on Pinganat in this episode of Biyahe ni Drew:
