Hidilyn Diaz in 2019 SEA Games


Hidilyn Diaz landed in the top spot of the 55kg weightlifting competition.

Zamboangeña weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz has clinched a gold medal at the weightlifting competition in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) on Monday, December 2.

This is her first ever SEA Games gold medal. She lifted 91 kg in the snatch and 120kg in the clean and jerk.

In 2016, she made the country proud after winning silver in the Rio Olympics. She also won the gold medal in 2018 Asian Games. She's now gearing up for the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

She also competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics where she was the youngest competitor in the women's 58-kg category, and was a bronze medalist in the 2007 SEA Games in Thailand. She likewise achieved 10th place at the 2006 Asian Games in the 53-kilogram class.
