It has been three months since Kapuso teen actress Pauline Mendoza switched to a vegan diet.

This means that she doesn't eat any animal-based products. According to Pauline, she made the big switch for health reasons.

When it comes to food, strict siya talaga lalo na 'pag nagwo-workout and everything.

Pauline admits that the switch was difficult for her at first, but now she enjoys the vegan lifestyle.

Pauline says.

The young actress visited Indulge Vegan Pizzeria where she learned to make one of their signature pies.

Here are some of the interesting toppings she learned about in her visit.

Mushrooms

Mushrooms are a popular meat substitute as some varieties mimic the texture of meat. They also add umami flavor to dishes. Mushrooms are also rich in vitamins like riboflavin, folate, thiamine, pantothenic acid, and niacin.

Textured vegetable protein

Textured vegetable protein or TVP is another popular meat substitute. It is made from soy flour and is high in fiber and protein, but virtually has no fat and cholesterol. TVP does not have a taste of its own but can soak up other flavors.

Cashew cheese sauce

Cashews are often used in vegan cuisine because they have a creamy texture when blended. Cashew cheese sauce is made by blending cashews in a bit of water and other flavorful ingredients like garlic and lemon juice. Cashews have high levels of iron, magnesium, zinc, copper, phosphorus, and manganese.
