Chefs Nori (Crystal Paras) and Kobe (Prince Clemented) faced each other in a heated, thrilling cook-off challenge.
Fans of GTV's romantic fantasy series, The Lost Recipe, experienced déjà vu last week after seeing Crystal Paras and Prince Clemente battle each other in an exciting cooking battle.
The two Kapuso stars gamely accepted the invitation from the long-running food review show, Pop Talk, for its new cook-off competition.
Both Crystal and Prince portrayed chef roles in The Lost Recipe, with the former assuming the character of Nori Buenaventura while the latter portrayed the persona of Kobe Medina.
For the cook-off challenge, Crystal and Prince were given two main ingredients to work on - chicken and noodles - and 30 minutes to finish their dish.
“To be honest, I thought that not over-preparing would work, like knowing the recipe by heart would be enough and to just enjoy the day, kinain ako ng kaba ko,” Crystal confided.
Crystal and Prince felt the pressure and have their own challenges and lapses to deal with during the competition.
“Naglagay ako ng parang isang kutsarang patis lang, tapos konting asin, tapos konting pepper. Pagtikim ko sabi ko parang tubig na mainit lang, so nag-add pa ko ulit,” said Prince, who initially struggled to get the flavor that he wanted for his dish.
He added, “Nag-aalala ako kasi parang ang daming tubig tapos lumulutang 'yong mga chicken. Sabi ko, 'Anong nangyayari dito? Luto na ba 'to?' Baka pagkagat nung mga titikim hilaw pa tapos magalit sa 'kin. Bahala na.'”
Crystal, on the other hand, said, “Namumutla na po ako kanina kasi ang dami ko pong nakalimutang gawin, hindi po ako nakapag-oil when I was cooking my egg, seasoning, bahala na po kayo kung magugustuhan n'yo. Sana talaga.”
When the smoke cleared, Crystal made chicken stir fry noodles while Prince came up with Filipino chicken noodle soup.
Judging the dishes were host Tonipet Gaba and guest chef, Gelo Guison, who is the first Pop Talk cook-off winner.
In the end, Prince emerged victorious after garnering a total score of 93 to Crystal's 89.
“Well, I think we should have another cook-off. That's all I can say,” a determined Crystal smilingly said, issuing a challenge for a rematch
“Chef Nori ang masasabi ko lang sa 'yo [is] better luck next time. Practice ka pa, turuan kita,” a victorious Prince replied with a grin.
