What will Winnie Monsod think of flavored taho and multi-colored kutsinta?

"Reinvented" Filipino food like flavored taho and black kutsinta have been around for a while but became more accessible as we enter the "new normal."

"These, mga Kapuso, are really traditional Filipino food. Kaya lang, they have undergone a transformation," New Normal: The Survival Guide series Newsmakers host Winnie Monsod explains.

In front of her are four flavors of taho--classic, mango graham, milk, and cookies and cream.

With it is multi-flavored kutsinta in classic, buko pandan, ube and mollasses.

As she loves taho, Tita Winnie kept an open mind when trying the flavored ones.

"The graham is cracker crumbs that have been crushed and the mango is little pieces, but it's always taho and sago. Ang syrup nila is 'yung mango at saka 'yung graham crackers," she says of the mango graham taho.

"If you are young, you will probably love it. What I miss here is the syrup. The mango makes it slightly sour. Hindi ko hinahanap 'yung sour sa taho. Usually, taho is sweet. But it's good. I like it," Tita Winnie adds.

She seemed excited to try the milk taho as she loves milk.

"This is nice because I love milk and I love taho. Taho with milk, is going to be one of my favorites," she shares.

Tita Winnie also suggested a slight improvement to the dish.

"If I were the one doing this, it would be taho with the syrup and then put fresh milk. Gatas kalabaw, babes. Kasarap sarap siguro nito. But this is okay na," she muses.

Find out how she ranks the taho flavors and what she thinks of multi-flavored kutsinta in the video above from New Normal: The Survival Guide series Newsmakers.
