The group 'wave to earth' shares details about their album 'play with earth! 0.03'

South Korean indie band wave to earth has captured hearts worldwide with their laid-back and deeply emotional music.

Their songs have an undeniable charm, resonating with fans through their personal yet relatable messages.

Last year, the band dropped their extended album "play with earth! 0.03," adding a few more tracks that quickly became fan favorites and felt like an instant vibe.

But some of the album's tracks, like "annie" and "beck," sparked curiosity about what inspired these unique songs.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, the band opened up about the album and its deeper meanings.

For them, the album started with the creation of "annie."

"We had several big tours such as the North America and the Europe tour and after we came back for a little gap (to rest), we start writing the song called 'annie'," John Cha shared.

"It's about our philosophy (that) we don't wanna be different or we don't want change. In spite our radical change of environment (and) we got little bit of attraction, I suddenly felt we don't really wanted to change and kinda related it to the song 'annie.'"

The song's inspiration comes from their belief in staying true to themselves, resisting the pressure to conform.

"'annie' is actually [pronounced similar] to "ani" or no in Korean. So why not we make a character Annie saying "ani". So that's how "annie came up," John explained.

As for, "beck," it's a continuation of the story from their previous track, "pueblo."

"The main character in "pueblo" kinda ruined all of his adventure and decided to come back home. During his [return], he suddenly meets a cat. Kim Daniel named the cat as 'beck'," the bassist added.

When asked about their personal favorites from the album, Dong Q chose "annie" for its message of staying authentic and not following the crowd.

For Daniel, "are you bored?" was the one that speaks to him the most. It's a track that feels feels like an introduction to wave to earth, offering listeners a glimpse into their world. It also helps them center themselves when performing it as the opening song.

Meanwhile, John Cha picks "slow dive" as his favorite because it feels like the truest representation of their sound and spirit as a band.
