Korean dishes might be a hot item now, but South Korean singer-actress Sandara Park would rather have Filipino food from time to time to satisfy her cravings.
The former 2NE1 singer recently took to Twitter to announce that she stumbled upon a good Filipino restaurant in Seoul, Korea.
She ordered sisig, kang kong, garlic rice, and a Philippine-made beer for dinner.
“May nahanap akong masarap na Pinoy resto sa Seoul. Super happy ako!!!” wrote Sandara.
This is not the first time that Sandara raved about Filipino food, and how much she misses eating old favorites.
Just last October, Sandara - who took on the name Dara for 2NE1 - visited a Filipino market in Seoul.
She recorded the visit then posted it on her YouTube channel, Dara TV.
“Let's see if people will recognize me. Because occasionally those who live abroad when they were younger and didn't have access to Philippine TV programs don't know me. Rather their kids or moms know me,” she said.
Sandara was indeed recognized by the crowd and she ended up staying in the market longer than intended to accommodate photo requests from Pinoy fans.
Sandara rose to fame in the Philippines after joining and finishing second in a reality-based talent competition in 2004. She likewise released songs, starred in TV shows, and movies in the country, making her a household name.
She returned to Korea in 2007 with her family and signed with South Korean company YG Entertainment Inc. where she was packaged as part of the K-pop girl group, 2NE1.
The group was one of the biggest K-pop acts back then and was active from 2009 to 2016. 2NE1 was composed of Dara, Bom, CL, and Minzy and popularized the hits "Go Away," "I Am the Best," "I Love You," and "Come Back Home."
Minzy recently debuted in the Philippine music industry, releasing a Tagalog version of her song "Lovely.
“Apparently, people in the Philippines take the most pictures compared to all other countries. And they are also the most active on social media. So that's why to our supporters, imagine how powerful this [mobile phone] is. Even my DaraTV followers are mainly from the Philippines,” said Sandara.
Sandara had a field day seeing and buying signature Filipino food favorites such as corned beef, local condiments, and tocino, among others.
“Tocino is my favorite breakfast food,” Sandara excitedly revealed.
