Versatile TV-movie actor Paolo Contis shares his thoughts about the success of the Netflix movie 'A Faraway Land' with Yen Santos.
There's no denying that Kapuso star Paolo Contis is one of the best actors of his generation, especially after scoring another hit in the streaming giant Netflix.
Paolo and Yen Santos are the lead actors of A Faraway Land, directed by Veronica Velasco--the same director for his movie with Alessandra de Rossi Through Night and Day (2018).
A Faraway Island, which was shot in the Faroe Islands, reached the number one spot on Netflix Philippines. Some netizens even dubbed Paolo as the “King of Pinoy Netflix.”
GMANetwork.com asked Paolo Contis, in an interview with the select group of the entertainment press held this Wednesday afternoon via Zoom, about how he felt that 'A Faraway Land' was going to be a huge hit.
Pao shared, “To be honest, nung piniresent sa akin 'yung story, sabi ko na I have to do it, I really have to do it.
“It's a different kind of love story, something that I would do. Siyempre nung ginagawa namin 'yung [A Far Away Land] na wala naman sa pag-iisip ko na, 'ang hit nito, ang hit nito.'
“Pero nung nage-edit na kami, pini-preview 'yung movie. Hindi naman hit, pero sabi ko, 'ang ganda nitong ginagawa natin. Napakaganda!'”
He added, “Siyempre ang gusto mo lang naman maging maganda, 'yun ang priority namin 'di ba, is to make a good movie and hopefully maging hit siya.
“And I'm very blessed that we were number one right away. Then, kumbaga validation lang 'yun na tama 'yung ginawa namin, sulit ang pinagpaguran namin, lahat ng bagyong inabot namin. Lahat ng nginig namin sa Faroe Islands. Sulit lahat!”
The I Left My Heart in Sorsogon star also has kind words for his leading lady in the film Yen Santos.
According to Paolo Contis, he relishes the opportunity to work with fellow actors from the rival network.
“Naging neutral ground siya for everyone na magkatrabaho di ba, siyempre hindi natin maiiwasan may taga-GMA, meron taga-ABS-CBN.
“Now, we have a platform where everyone can actually work together, kasi bilang artista, in all honesty sa amin, walang [network war], gusto lang namin magtrabaho and I was very blessed, and very thankful na naka-trabaho ko si Yen--- she was very professional, ang dali-daling katrabaho.” Paolo noted.
“Ang saya-saya niya sa set, when she laughs, everyone laughs, nakakahawa 'yung kanyang tawa and she was very easy to work with. Again, I'm very thankful I had the opportunity to work with Yen.”
