Content creator and vlogger Wil Dasovich could not help but feel proud of winning the World Vlog Challenge.
In an Instagram post on October 17, Wil posted a video of his award acceptance speech, expressing how he wants to make Filipinos proud by representing an entire country and making an impact.
“I just want to make you all proud & it's moments like these where I get to represent an entire country that makes me feel like I'm creating an impact,” he said.
He also admitted that while making the video might be one of the most difficult videos he produced, having millions of people watch it and promote a meaningful cause is the “highest accomplishment I can achieve as a content creator.”
The World Vlog Challenge is a reality show that focuses on the theme ”Vlogs for a cause” wherein they have an objective to accomplish while making their vlogs or entries. In this year's competition, 11 creators were challenged to tell the stories of the Himalayan glaciers as well as the impact of climate change on the glaciers.
A total of 11 content creators competed with three from India, two from Nepal, two from the US, two from Thailand, and one from the Philippines.
In his acceptance speech, Wil admitted that it was hard to “make a piece that is both entertaining and meaningful and that has an impact on the world” and admitted that he and other creators may have struggled with it.
“It's easy to be entertaining and get a lot of views and it's easy to make a piece that's informative but it's really difficult to bind those two together though,” he added.
Wil also said that it means a lot to him to have received recognition for his work as there was a lot he and the other creators went through during their hike.
“Just to be here, it's an honor and getting the point across about climate change and the whole purpose of this thing is to get as many eyeballs as we can on things that matter in this world,” he added.
