The actress and her friends visited Child Haus to celebrate the fourth birthday of her goddaughter Nara.
Yassi shared a few snaps of the special day on her Instagram account, along with a few of her reflections after the experience.
"a day with @childhausph. they're a charity organization dedicated to provide home and care for indigent children with cancer. some of these kids are as young as 1 year old--while others experienced being revived multiple times, and so many more stories. knowing what these angels had to endure at such a young age breaks my heart but it's also a reminder to be grateful for what we have, don't lose up, and to always give back and be a blessing for others, every chance that you can get," she wrote.
Some of the stories she heard from the kids and their parents made her recall her own late father's battle with cancer.
"being here reminded me of my dad, too, and his 7 years of fight with cancer; accompanying him all those years i saw upclose how much strength and love from people around you is needed to survive every single day. hindi madali, pero gumagaan kapag may kasama ka sa laban," Yassi shared.
She also hopes that her experience at Child Haus will inspire other people.
"may this post serve as a reminder to be that person for others; be it family or not. everybody can use some more love and care," she wrote.
Yassi also had a very special message for her goddaughter.
"it was so lovely to spend my bestfriend's daughter's birthday here, happy birthday Nara. You are surrounded by people setting good examples, continue to be an angel, Nangnang loves you, nawee," her caption read.
Yassi then encouraged her followers to support Child Haus if they can.
"if anyone else wants to help support these kids, you can message child haus ph at childhausmanila@gmail.com," she ended her post.
Yassi was part of the recently concluded full action series Black Rider where she joined primetime action hero Ruru Madrid, K-drama actor Kim Ji Soo, Rio Locsin and many more.
The series ended on with a bang as it logged an all-time high in ratings during its finale episode. It scored a 15.6 combined ratings from GMA-7, GTV, and Pinoy Hits according to Nielsen Philippines. This is higher than the 14.7 combined ratings of the program on the same timeslot.
