'Bata pa lang ako, gusto ko nang mag-artista' - Maine Mendoza

By MARY LOUISE LIGUNAS

For one of the most popular names on television and online today, being a celebrity was once a far-fetched dream.

Yaya Dub actress Maine Mendoza used to think that she will never make it into show business.

“I used to think being a celebrity is unattainable in my case so I never really considered pursuing [it]. I didn’t think I have what it takes to be one; good looks, charisma, talents, etc.,” she confessed on her blog (http://mainemendoza.com)

Today, she could be watched daily on Eat Bulaga, the longest running noontime show in the country, she has over a million followers on Facebook, and her tandem with Alden Richards is on the Twitter trend list every day.

“Being a celebrity has always been my dream, at ngayon lang ako maglalakas loob ipaalam sa lahat na bata pa lang ako, gusto ko nang mag-artista… Eto na… Papunta na ako… I am getting there,” she added.

Contrary to how it looks like on air, Maine admitted to being nervous about being on television.

“It was my first time to be on live TV and I had no idea on how the show would go… I [just] tried my best to keep/look calm and poised… [Now], I must say [that] I am really having a good time at the set! Nakakaride na ako,” she shared happily.

Maine acknowledged that what she is enjoying now wouldn’t have been possible if not for the viewers who appreciate what she does and make her feel that her hard work pays off.

“Maraming maraming maraming salamat sa pagsuporta at pagtutok sa Eat Bulaga araw-araw. (Alden and) I couldn’t thank you all enough for the love and support you guys are showing and giving us. You guys are amazing in so many ways,” she wrote.
