Playlist feature: Kitchie Nadal revives 'Same Ground'

By MARY LOUISE LIGUNAS

After the song’s release in 2004, Kitchie Nadal is set to perform "Same Ground" on the Playlist stage tomorrow, October 19. She is grateful that a decade since it was released, people are still able to sing along to it and enjoy hearing it.

“I’m happy that people still like it and then maybe for me, it gives us an opportunity to play it in different ways so ang dami na niyang version. We still enjoy playing that song,” she said.

Aside from the acoustic hit’s revival, she and her band will also perform "Wandering Stars" on the online concert platform. Her newest song was inspired by current events.

“It’s a beautiful heavy song kasi it talks about social issues. Everywhere in the world, there’s war going on and [a lot are happening]. I also related it in the context of a verse in the bible that says we’re like wandering stars,” she added.

After years of being in the music industry, Kitchie continues to reinvent her sound.

“[For this song], nag-focus ako dun sa musical direction that I would like to explore so mas naging electronic siya and then I tried the keyboards also… I’m experimenting on electronic, more on the keys,” she shared.

The 36-year-old singer finds herself fortunate to be able to keep contributing to OPM and hopes to be remembered for her heartfelt lyrics, among others.

“I just want to be remembered as somebody that writes sincerely and someone whose desire is to share positive, inspiring songs,” she concluded.
