Liza Lorena as Beatrice Villacorta in “Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas”

The mother of actor Tonton Guiterrez and a former beauty queen, Liza Lorena plays Beatrice Villacorta in Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas. GMANetwork.com sat down with the award-winning actress for this exclusive interview.

“I play Beatrice Villacorta the grandmother of Lovi Poe, ‘yung character ni Lovi [Poe] si Lovelia. My son is played by Gary Estrada,“ she shares.

She further said,“So ako ‘yung bad dito pati ‘yung anak ko pinapahirapan ko. Hindi naman todo kontrabida like mabait lang then medyo suplada.”

Helen Gamboa was supposed to be a part of the original cast of Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas. Due to health reasons, Liza Lorena replaced her as Beatrice Villacorta. Gloria Romero, on the other hand, took the original role of Liza as Cristina Alperos.

When asked why she got chosen for the role, “Sila na ang nagdecide,” was her simple reply. She has no problem with the switch “basta kasama ko siya [Gloria Romero].”

We also asked her about working with Lovi and Rocco. She has this to say about GMA’s Premier Actress, “si Lovi nakasama ko sa Legacy and dun palang mahal na namin siya.”

“I’m looking forward to working with Rocco. Ngayon ko lang siya nakilala,” she enthused. “It’s also nice to work with real talents. Makakapulot sila ng aral sa iyo.”

”Ang nakakaaliw dito although some mga bata, magalang sila. Iba yung training nu’n at ngayon but they are good. Imagine drama ng drama, iyak ng iyak… that’s hard,” said the veteran actress about her co-actors.
