'Ang Dalawang Ikaw' full trailer trends on Twitter, draws positive feedback

GMA Network just released the full trailer of the upcoming afternoon series Ang Dalawang Ikaw and it wowed loyal fans and netizens.

The two-minute trailer got people talking as it showcases intense scenes between Ken Chan, Rita Daniela, and Anna Vicente, the main actors in the said psychological drama.

In fact, Ang Dalawang Ikaw full trailer is a trending topic on Twitter Philippines with over 6,000 tweets as of writing.

One Twitter user even tagged Ken as "this generation's new Dennis Trillo" because of his acting capabilities.

Dennis also recently starred in a psychological drama titled "Truly. Madly. Deadly.," the fourth installment of I Can See You drama anthology, which earned praises from viewers. Here, Dennis plays a psychotic CCTV operator who is obsessed with a resort manager, played by Jennylyn Mercado.

Both Ang Dalawang Ikaw and "Truly. Madly. Deadly" are directed by Jorron Monroy.

In a virtual interview with GMANetwork.com and GMA Pinoy TV, the concept creator of Ang Dalawang Ikaw, Geng Delgado, revealed that they eyed Dennis to play the role of Nelson/Tyler but eventually determined that Ken is more fit for the character who has a dissociative identity disorder (DID).

She shared, "Parang naisip before na bagay siya kay Dennis Trillo although baka meron siyang ginagawa noon at saka 'yung age range ng soap hindi na sa age ni Dennis.

"So kailangan mas bata kasi newlyweds 'yung mga bida so sino ba 'yung of same caliber ni Dennis, si Ken Chan.

"'Yun kasi medyo kilala na siya for breakthrough roles like 'yung sa 'My Special Tatay' and 'Destiny Rose.'

A netizen also took notice of how natural Ken and Rita are as a married couple on-screen.

In Ang Dalawang Ikaw, Rita plays Mia, Nelson's wife. Mia has a competitor in Nelson's heart, her husband's alter personality, Tyler.

The Ang Dalawang Ikaw head writer Lobert Villela explained, "Sa amin sa creative team, parang maganda na maging journey siya ng mag-asawa so medyo nag-adjust kami sa story para mas bumagay sa casting.

"It should be the POV (point of view) of the wife na nadi-discover niya 'yung DID ng asawa niya and then POV din ng lalaki, ni Ken, na siya sa sarili niya na na-discover niya na meron pala siyang gano'ng [condition]."

Most importantly, some netizens see this as an opportunity to learn about the rare mental disorder of Nelson which is commonly known as split personality disorder.

Ang Dalawang Ikaw also stars Jake Vargas, Dominic Rocco, Joana Marie Tan, Lianne Valentin, Anthony Rosaldo, and Jeremy Sabido.

It will air beginning Monday, June 21, after Eat Bulaga on GMA.
