'Artikulo 247' director Jorron Monroy recalls how they overcame struggles during its production
It is another milestone for director Jorron Monroy to spearhead the much-anticipated GMA Afternoon Prime series titled Artikulo 247 starring Rhian Ramos, Kris Bernal, Benjamin Alves, and Mark Herras.
On the last day of their second lock-in taping today, February 22, Monroy posted an Instagram photo of him together with the lead actors of the series.
In a lengthy caption, Direk Jorron related some stories about how they began creating the show.
"I was first offered to direct this project while shooting Ang Dalawang Ikaw. The script came to me at a time when my team and I had no idea that we would later face a particularly challenging pandemic shoot situation," he shared.
Monroy mentioned how the COVID-19 scare contributed to the struggles they encountered during the first leg of the project.
He wrote, "Half of the team tested positive for the corona halfway our shoot, and everyone, positive and negative alike, had to be hotel quarantined until everyone is guaranteed free of the virus. As my team and I finished the on-going project, shoot schedules for Artikulo 247 were adjusted, pre-production preparations halted, producers reshuffled, and casting took a turn."
In the latter part of his caption, Monroy mentioned that the list of the stellar cast inspired him direct the series.
"When I finally set the names of the actors giving life to the characters, these talented people with me in the photo together with the rest of the stellar cast, I felt relieved and excited that I will be spending the next four months [or possibly more] with them, collaborating and creating this peculiar story.
"Mark, Rhian, Ben, Kris and Mike," he claimed.
The Artikulo 247 director also hinted at what to expect about the upcoming Kapuso series.
"Decidedly, we took it into the campier side of storytelling. And in the shoot process, I tried to master the art of bitch slaps, hair pulling, and water catfights. And some man brawls, too."
Director Monroy ended his post with a powerful statement, "Yet with all the turns and mishaps this project faced, for the first time in my entire career, a series title remains unchanged from its concept paper up until the on-air premiere--Artikulo 247."
