'Barangay 143' returns to GMA on Sunday

The first Filipino anime series “Barangay 143” finally returns on Philippine television beginning Mar 31 on GMA.

Fans eagerly anticipate what happens next to Bren Park (Migo Adecer) after he found out that Melvin wasn't his biological father. What shocking revelation awaits him? Will he carry on in playing for Team Puzakal and unknowingly aid Coach B (John Arcilla) in his mission to find justice for Basti?

Meanwhile, Bren and Wax's brewing competition goes beyond the court as the latter finally shows that he is smitten with Vicky (Julie Anne San Jose). Will Bren finally meet a worthy opponent in Vicky's heart once Wax (Ruru Madrid) steps up and finally makes his move on his late best friend's younger sister?

To mark the show's highly anticipated comeback, “Barangay 143” formally launched its official soundtrack last Saturday, March 23, in SM Masinag. The jam-packed mall show featured OST music artists Gloc 9 (“Dito sa Barangay 143”), Krizza Neri (“Alanganin”), Jin Ho Bae (“Para Sa Isa't Isa), and Harlem Ty (“Liga ng Buhay” and “Salamin”). Kapuso stars Kimpoy Feliciano, Melbelline Caluag, and John Kenneth also graced the event and gave their renditions of some “Barangay 143” songs.

Other OST music artists include Nina (“Para Sa Isa't Isa”), Kris Lawrence (“Alanganin”), Top Suzara (“Liga ng Buhay” and “Salamin”), Maya (“Dito Sa Barangay 143”), Alyssa Quijano (“Frozen in Time”), Kevin Yadao (“Basketboleros”), Batang Maligaya (“Mangarap Ka”), and Willie Revillame (“Miss Pwede Ba”).

“Barangay 143” made history as the first Filipino-made anime to air on Philippine television. It was produced by Philippine-based Synergy88 Entertainment Media Inc. alongside Singapore's August Media Holdings and Japan's TV Asahi.

Since its pilot telecast in October, it has been consistently winning in urban homes nationwide. Its online community also continues to grow as more and more viewers get hooked with the program.

“Barangay 143” features the voices of Migo Adecer, Julie Anne San Jose, Ruru Madrid, Kelley Day, John Arcilla, Lorna Tolentino, Alice Dixson, Teresa Loyzaga, Jaime Fabregas, Pen Medina, Paolo Contis, Archie Alemania, Jerald Napoles Antonio Aquitana, Kimpoy Feliciano, Benjie Paras, Alyana Asistio, Ping Medina, Roadfil Macasero, Xandra Rocha, Majoy Baron, Gio Alvarez, Nar Cabico, Raver Eda, Gary Lim, and the Kramer family consist of Cheska, Doug, Kendra, and Scarlet.
