Ultimate talent competition Battle of the Judges began to blow viewers' minds as it made its TV debut last Saturday, July 15.
Hosted by Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards, Battle of the Judges officially introduced its esteemed panel of judges who lead their squads. It comprises "The Strategist" Boy Abunda, "The Entertainment Industry Leader" Ms. Annette Gozon-Valdes, "The Powerhouse Comedian" Jose Manalo, and "The Premier Leading Lady" Bea Alonzo.
The pilot episode featured the first level of elimination called "Battle of the Best" where four performers under each squad of the four judges faced off in two battles.
For the first battle, Judge Boy fielded the Nocturnal Dance Company, a world-class dance group and purveyors of “Filipino ethnic swag” style of dancing versus the Shadow Arts Theater Organization, composed of elite and inspirational shadow players from Leyte, who belongs to the squad of Judge Annette.
For the second battle, Judge Jose fielded Marlou Mangeron, a viral popping dancer and contortionist versus Moses Gozun, a young drumming prodigy who belongs to the squad of Judge Bea.
The performances in each battle were voted on by the two non-competing judges and the studio audience.
At the end of the episode, it was the Nocturnal Dance Company and Moses Gozun who received more battle stars than their competitors. Meaning, this is also a victory for their respective mentors, Boy and Bea.
Directed by Rico Gutierrez, Battle of the Judges airs Saturdays, 7:15 p.m. after Pepito Manaloto on GMA.
It can also be viewed via livestreaming on the program's official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
