Three reasons to watch 'Bet ng Bayan'

For Asia’s Songbird and Bet ng Bayan host Regine Velasquez, her newest project is unlike any other talent search in the past. She enumerates some of the reasons why Bet ng Bayan is one-of-a-kind and how it has made reaching dreams possible.
1. Bet ng Bayan happens outside the studio.
More stories are told in the streets and Bet ng Bayan gets to find some of the saddest, most fun, most interesting, craziest and most surprising ones. “Hindi natin ginagawa sa studio. Tayo 'yung pumupunta sa probinsya, nag-se-set up tayo doon and we do the contest there,” Regine noted.
That said, Regine, her co-host Alden Richards and the Bet ng Bayan crew members get to come across with some of the rawest talents and nicest locals. “People (are) very, very nice and very respectful and sobrang cooperative. At saka nakakatuwa kasi sinasabay natin sa mga fiesta so it’s pretty exciting,” she grinned.
2. Bet ng Bayan travels to the dreamers.
If other reality shows require a contestant to show up in a specific venue, Bet ng Bayan does the opposite. “We bring the search to the people so it’s easier for them to join. Kasi dati, dito lang tayo sa Manila so 'yung kunyare, [those who live in] Mindanao, ang hirap,” she said.
More dreamers are given a platform and more talents are discovered. “Dinadala kasi natin sa kanila. Linalapit natin sa tao 'yung contest, and it’s the first time I think ever that this kind of concept was ever done,” she added.
3. Bet ng Bayan is an all-in-one competition.
The show is not confined to one type of skill. In Bet ng Bayan, there’s a Bet sa Kantahan, Bet sa Sayawan and Bet sa Kakaibang Talento. “Hindi lang (‘to) puro kanta, kasi 'yung mga na-host ko before, puro kantahan lang eh. Ngayon may sayawan and of course 'yung kakaibang talento,” she shared.
In the months that the show has been going around the country, Regine has found extraordinary talents. “Ang dami din pala merong (kakaibang talento)… So it’s very exciting at nakakatuwa kasi [from provincial to regional, etc], nasusubaybayan mo yung bet mo kaya exciting kung hanggang saan siya makakarating,” she noted.
