Multi-talented director Frasco Mortiz immediately felt at home the moment he set foot on GMA Network to direct the award-winning and flagship comedy program Bubble Gang.

Last week, the son of Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz was formally introduced to the entertainment press as the new director of the show in the grand online media conference for the upcoming relaunch happening on May 27.

During his chat with GMANetwork.com, Direk Frasco narrated what happened when he was offered to direct Bubble Gang, which is considered to be one of the 'crown jewels' of the leading broadcast network in the country,

He said, “I'm very honored actually, when they offered me noong una [sabi nila], 'Direk puwede ka ba sumalo?'

“Una, sasalo pa lang tuwang-tuwa na talaga ako. Ang pakiramdam ko nag-full circle na ako as a director for comedy, kasi alam ni Kuya Bitoy 'to noh, laking gag show kasi ako 'di ba? Si Erpat [Direk Bobot Mortiz], gag show yang mga 'yan, nagkasama sila nila ni Kuya Bitoy sa isang show before, 'yung before ng Bubble Gang.”

Direk Frasco added that he felt nervous at first joining the team, but he knows that they all have the same goal of making people happy.

“Lumaki ako na ang pinapanood ko gag show talaga, kaya nung inoffer 'to, siyempre 'yung kaba ko is, ako 'yung bago, makikisama ka doon sa bagong cast, siyempre may samahan na 'yan.”

“Pero nakakatuwa na, kahit sa ibang network ako nanggaling ginagawa naming programa, parang pareho 'yung aming end goal namin is to make people laugh.”

He then continued, “Kumbaga ang dali ko nag-ease in, kasi oo, ganyan na ganyan din 'yung ginagawa namin and ikinuwento ko nga 'pag gumawa ka ng family tree ng comedy shows, magkakadikit lahat 'yan.

“Mayroon taong nag-work dito, na nandito ngayon. So ganun 'yung pakiramdam ko na parang inikutan ko lang lahat and nakakatuwa na sila 'yung nakasama ko.”

Frasco also lauded the team behind Bubble Gang for making their shoot every Monday hassle-free.

He noted, “Hindi ako nahirapan actually at all, 'yung transitioning, kasi pareho 'yung end goal namin is magpasaya ng tao and 'yung taste namin sa comedy hindi naman nalalayo. So for me, napakadali naman. At ssaka natutuwa ako, kasi very helpful lahat, winelcome nila kaagad ko.

“Kumbaga hindi ako nahirapan sa kanila, kasi ang dadali nila katrabaho and every taping day masaya 'yung experience sa set.”
