7 reasons why Carmela is an inspiration to women

Not one to let others oppress or insult her, Carmela could very well be the definitive heroine of primetime television. She is definitely more than just a pretty face and she has got just the right amount of spunk to prove it.

Here are seven reasons why women should look up to the feisty and fierce Carmela:

1. She is hardworking and driven.

Carmela is a girl who knows what she wants and strives hard to get it. You have here a girl who basically made it on her own from the time she was separated from her parents. After being taken in by the kind-hearted Lola Wagay, Carmela did not just rely on her guardian to fend for her needs. She worked while studying in order to pay for her education and give back to Lola Wagay.

2. She does not let her past define her present.

Carmela had a tough past. She was still an infant when she lost her father. She saw her mother being imprisoned before disappearing. She was scathed at an early age. Instead of being angsty, she turned her negative experiences into pieces of motivation to empower herself. She makes the most of the present so that she will have an even better future with her loved ones.

3. She values her family.

Carmela did not have hesitations in forgiving her mother, Amanda, when they were reunited. It was as though they were never apart. She also reaches out to her half-sister, Janine, although the latter does not want anything to do with Carmela or Amanda. Family for Carmela also goes beyond blood relation. Carmela considers Lola Wagay and the kids she adopted to be her family. In life, she fights in the name of her family.

4. She is one tough cookie.

Fearless is one word that could perfectly define Carmela. She bravely moved to Sta. Maria to seek vengeance from Mayor Fernando Torres, who was responsible for the death of her father and the disappearance of her mother. Though Mayor Torres is the most powerful person in Sta. Maria, Carmela is bent up on seeking justice for everything he has done.

5. She fights for her beliefs.

Carmela almost lost her life so many times, but she still keeps on fighting for what is right. She tried to expose Mayor Torres’ anomalous political activities. She eventually succeeded, although she failed several times. Mayor Torres even tried to buy her silence, but Carmela stood by her principles.

6. She stands up for the truth

Nobody and nothing can stand in Carmela’s way when it comes to letting the truth prevail. When someone gets oppressed, especially her family and friends, she stands up for them without resorting to physical violence. She might be taking the law into her own hands sometimes, but her intentions are always good.

7. She is selfless.

It is no secret that Yago is in love with Carmela, and she feels the same way. However, she holds back and conceals what she feels because she is focused on her goal of fighting for justice. Also, things may get complicated because Yago is Mayor Torres’ grandson. Nevertheless, she still considers Yago as a friend and confidant. Maybe one day, she will realize that they could be meant to be.
