Kier Suerte Felipe wows 'Centerstage' judges with suave performance of 'Nobela'

By Dianara Alegre

Bulacan bet Kier Felipe has maintained his title in the kiddie singing competition Centerstage and earned his second consecutive win last Sunday, March 21.

He bested fellow Centerstage hopefuls, including Eleana Gabunada, a 12-year-old dog and fitness lover from Parañaque; Divine Camposano, the 13-year-old BTS fan from Cavite; 13-year-old Jewel Magat who loves singing and Tiktok; and 11-year-old band vocalist, Shankono Francisco.

Kier made judges Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, Soul Diva Aicelle Santos, and Maestro Mel Villena's hearts flutter with his suave rendition of “Nobela” by Filipino alternative rock band Join the Club.

“I found [it] more refreshing sa pandinig. Kasi sa mga sumali sa kanya lang ako nakarinig ng ganung style of singing. Kaya medyo nag-standout siya sa akin. At dahil dun, malaki 'yung chance niya na makapasok sa finals kung nag-iisa lang siyang ganon,” judge Aicelle commented on Kier's performance.

Maestro Mel then said that his vocal timbre is “pambihira” and “hindi usual.”

Judge Pops also added that they felt “kilig” with Kier's version of the Filipino hit song.

“It's the way na-deliver 'yung song with so much ease. Pareho naman silang kumanta kaya lang siguro mas namangha kami dun sa style nung isa dahil kinilig kaming tatlo, e,” she said.
