'Inang Reyna of K-pop' Happee Sy-Go graces 'Cool Hub'

By Dianara Alegre

Online show Cool Hub's October 3 episode was a take on K-pop, which also featured the valuable collections of guest collector Happee Sy-Go.

She is the COO of Pulp Live World, one of the biggest, largest and most diverse live event companies in the Philippines that brought the live acts of BTS, EXO and Super Junior, among many others, in the country.

Dubbed as “Inang Reyna of K-pop,” Happee is also one of K-pop's largest authorities in the country.

During her interview with Cool Hub host Myrtle Sarrosa, Happee shared what inspired her to become a K-pop concert producer.

“Actually, I wasn't really into K-pop that time. I was just into Super Junior. And then that time with my friend, my friend is a promoter na, e. He owns Pulp na. During that time, he produced rock and metal only.

“So I told him I like to do K-pop,” she recalled.

The producer also added that at first, her friend dismissed the idea of producing K-pop concerts because of the language barrier.

But due to her persistence, her friend agreed and set an appointment with Super Junior.

“Two weeks after that, I received an email from them na parang saying na, 'I heard you're looking for us. What can we do for you,' and it started there.

“Basically, wala akong kaalam-alam into production and anything, basta gusto ko lang sila,” she added.

The first-ever concert she handled was Super Junior's.

In the same episode, Happee also showed her collection of light sticks and various merchandise of different K-pop groups in the show.

“That's really my goal, to collect light sticks ever.

"Ang problem, sobra siyang mahal. But inisip ko na lang na parang siguro isang light stick, ilang percent ng sweldo mo in a month. Naka-allocate na siya kay light stick,” she quipped.
