Ashleigh Nordstrom's one-of-a-kind dream role

From playing the role of Bea Binene's best friend in Cielo de Angelina and Rafael Rosell's sister in Maghihintay Pa Rin, teen actress Ashleigh Nordstrom is now part of the latest Sunday afternoon series Dormitoryo. In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com during the show's press conference, Ashleigh talked about her character Rose, working with Joyce and Annicka, and why she wants to be a figure skater on TV.
"I play the role of Rose Angeles. Isa po ako sa best friends ni Joyce Ching. Meaning kung kontrabida siya, isa rin ako sa mga kontrabida. Tatlong mean girls kami, ako, si Annicka Dolonius, and si Joyce Ching. Kaming tatlo 'yung mang-aapi kay Hazel (Lauren Young's character)," says Ashleigh about her newest role.
How was it like working with Joyce and Annicka since sila ang magka-barkada dito?
"Masaya! Si Joyce Ching, it's my first time to work with her. Si Annicka nakasama ko na sa workshops, medyo close na kami. Si Joyce sobrang bait niya, sobrang easy to work with. Kung kailangan mo siyang i-approach, easy lang. Same with Annicka, sobrang bait niya."
We asked the 14-year old on what her dream role is, at ito ang naging mabilis niyang sagot. "I want to have a lead role about figure skating. I'm a figure skater, nag-compete na po ako sa ibang bansa. I really want to have a show na parang hindi lang 'yung acting side 'yung ipapakita ko, even my sports side, 'yung pagiging figure skater ko. Gusto ko po talagang magkaroon ng ganung lead role."
She started at a very young age, and has won eight gold medals until she stopped to concentrate on her career. "I started figure skating when I was four years old. Tapos nag-compete na rin ako sa Thailand, Japan, Malaysia. Tapos nung nag-compete ako sa Malaysia, I brought home a gold medal kasi nasa Philippine team po ako. Nag-stop na ako for two years kasi nag-concentrate ako sa showbiz. Before showbiz, nag-modeling muna ako."
Even with her showbiz commitments, Ashleigh still wants to skate once in a while. "Hindi ko masasabi na mag-concentrate ako sa figure skating pero ngayon kasi magkakaroon ng bagong rink sa isang mall. So I'm going to buy a new pair of skates para kapag may free time ako, I'm going to go skate with my friends."
