Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) is among the three TV dramas that are chosen as the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year at the 15th Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA).

Alongside TNT's Snowpiercer and Sky Atlantic, HBO and Canal+'s The New Pope, the Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee selected Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) for the award because it is influenced by Korean content that received positive reception around the world throughout the year.

GMA Network's local adaptation of one of the world's most well-loved K-drama series of the same title made its highly-anticipated debut on Philippine TV screens last February 10.

A KBS original, Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) created buzz for its compelling love story featuring a military-doctor relationship that is tested through war and danger. It is headlined by no less than Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado.

The 15th Seoul International Drama Awards will be held at M.B.C. Media Center Public Hall on September 10, 2020 without a live audience due to health and safety protocols imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Launched in 2006, SDA is one of the world's leading festivals that recognizes top-quality TV programs, and introduces them to the worldwide audience.

It is the same organization that gave Kapuso stars Alden Richards, Dennis Trillo, and Gabby Concepcion the Asian Star prize award.
