Cassy Legaspi admits feeling nervous as lock-in taping for 'First Yaya' draws near

By Aedrianne Acar

The only daughter of Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel, Cassy Legaspi, is ready to spread her wings and forge her own path in showbiz by doing her first soap First Yaya.

The highly-anticipated Kapuso series is top-billed by former matinee idol Gabby Concepcion and actress Sanya Lopez, who replaced Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.

In a video conference interview organized by the Corporate Communications Department with the entertainment press on Tuesday, October 13, Cassy shared her thoughts about working with Sanya.

“Well of course, I'm still excited no matter who the cast will be. Excited pa rin ako and I think this is something different din.

“Right now kasi, I'm focused on my own work and how I'm going to portray my character properly, so yan muna ang iniisip ko ngayon. Other than that, I'm still excited regardless.”

With the COVID-19 pandemic changing how shoots are conducted, the production team of the show has decided to implement a lock-in taping in order to protect everyone from the highly-contagious disease.

Cassy admitted that she feels a bit nervous being on her own during the shoot.

She told the press, “At first excited, pero ngayon parang I think nervous now [laughs]. Kasi, oh my gosh, malapit na!

“Tapos 'yung restrictions nga, 'yung may lockdown, so parang magbo-boarding school ako for one month. So, I can't see my family for a month. So 'yun lang, I think I'm just nervous din, kasi I'm on my own din.”

The GMA Artist Center beauty added that she has been in constant communication with her Mommy Carmina, who is currently in a lock-in taping for a movie.

“Kasi ngayon po, naka-lock down po siya [Carmina Villaroel] for a movie, so I ask her: Paano 'yung procedure diyan or something. Is it hard? Fast-pace ba 'yung [shoot], something like that.”

A member of the press also asked Cassy on being paired with Joaquin Domagoso on First Yaya, which will be her first on-screen team up.

Cassy shared that it will be less pressure working with Joaquin, since they are both newbies and will help each other out through the whole process.

“I'm really excited naman to work with him and since I've already worked with him before, 'yun nga sa Studio 7 and All-Out Sundays, I think working with him again sa teleserye mas maging natural siya, like 'yung acting and all of that.

“I think I'll be comfortable right away and also I guess, kasi wala din pressure because its both of our first teleserye, so parang okay we got each other. Let's help each other out. I think 'yun nga, less pressure.”
