Xian Lim realizes one important life lesson while learning how to skate for 'Hearts On Ice'

By Aimee Anoc

Unlike his previous roles on television, this is the first time Xian Lim will lead in a sports drama series, where he has to learn how to ice skate.

Since the backdrop of the inspiring story of Hearts On Ice revolves around figure skating, Xian trained for several months to give justice to his role, Enzo.

According to him, he often feels "silly, intimidated, insecure, and more often than not shy and reluctant to step on the ice" and learn all the movements that are completely new to him.

"Seeing a 6'2 (180lbs) guy on ice skating in a public rink trying to balance is not an ordinary sight and most of the time I stumble around and fall," he shared on a Facebook post.

While sharing his ice skating progress, Xian learned an important life lesson. He came to realize that life is "a series of ups and downs."

"You will fall numerous amount of times but just like what Rocky Balboa said, 'It's not about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward,'” he added.

"The goal isn't to get there. It's also to have fun along the way. Enjoy the difficulty, love the process."
