Rhian Ramos and Glaiza De Castro reminisce on their roles in 'The Rich Man's Daughter'

In honor of Pride Month which is celebrated in June, the latest episode of GMA Artist Center's celebrity talk show, "How Do You Feel," features actors who have played LGBT+ roles on-screen.

Host Chynna Ortaleza was joined by leading man Tom Rodriguez, actresses Glaiza de Castro, Rhian Ramos, comedian Divine Tetay, and esteemed director and actor Ricky Davao.

There, the stars talked about how they prepared for their roles and shared realizations they gleaned from exploring perspectives different from their own.

Glaiza, who portrayed the openly gay woman Althea in the 2015 series The Rich Man's Daughter, said that she studied various resources to gain a deeper understanding of where her character is coming from.

"I was trying to interview people, ask about saan ba sila nanggagaling? Paano ba nila na-identify o nayakap 'yung sarili nila? Una, siyempre, bilang mga aktor, ine-emulate muna natin 'yung mga nakikita natin sa mga movies or sa series so during that time, umeere 'yung 'Orange Is The New Black.' Kung kakayanin ko raw panoorin 'yung 'Blue Is The Warmest Color,' panoorin ko raw.

"Lahat ng mga kailangan kong references para maintindihan 'yung character ko, ginawa ko. Sa totoo lang, coming from a conservative family, dumating sa point na pumunta ako sa pulpit, 'nung time na 'yon, humingi ako ng guidance at pangunawa nila na may gagawin akong kakaibang project at sana maintindihan nila. Kasi minsan may tendency 'yung tao na i-judge agad 'yung gagawin mo o i-judge agad ikaw bilang aktor," she said.

As for Rhian, who played the role of the confused Jade opposite Glaiza's Althea, she felt unprepared to take on the character.

"Jade" was originally meant to be portrayed by Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, however, she got pregnant with her first-born before the show aired which is why the management gave Rhian the role.

According to her, "I really learned the entire approach and the attack that I wanted to take from being on set with everyone helping me and guiding me. I didn't have any kind of preparation for it.

"I felt unprepared and those feelings helped my character because of all of the confusion and the insecurity I was going through, nakadagdag siya doon sa nararamdaman ni Jade na so many changes were happening to her emotionally. She didn't know that she was a lesbian until she met Althea."
