Empress Schuck is ready to be hated

Empress Schuck wanted a challenge, and GMA's new Afternoon Prime soap, 'Kailan Ba Tama Ang Mali?' gave her one.
"Gusto ko talaga [ng kontrabida role] before ako lumipat. This time, gusto ko kakaiba talaga," she says of her role in the drama series.
Empress will play Sonya, college sweetheart and common-law wife of Leo—who will be played by Geoff Eigenmann. The role reunites her with Max Collins, who will play Leo's legal wife Amanda.
Empress and Max previously co-starred in a fantaserye in another network five years ago. The tables have turned now, as in Kailan Ba Tama Ang Mali? Empress will play the kontrabida role.
Empress shares that she was actually the one who sought out the role.
"Ito yung in ngayon eh—mistresses, second wives. Sabi ko: Wow! Why not? Actually, I was the one who told them: I want an offbeat role, a kontrabida role," she says, adding that she was very happy when they granted her request.
According to her, the role of Sonya is perfect for her.
"Kahit si Sonya mismo, 'yung description parang maamo 'yung mukha tapos biglang magtataray. Interesting," she shares.
Kailan Ba Tama Ang Mali? marks Empress' first major kontrabida role. With that, is she ready to be hated?
"Sobra! Actually, 'yun 'yung hinahanap ko. Sana may magalit na sa akin kaagad," she says laughing.
She explains that she hopes that viewers' reactions to her role can help her gauge her versatility as an actress.
"Kasi siyempre, parang effective kapag nainis sila sayo. Kesa naman sabihin na 'Ay! Ano ba yan? Mukhang mabait pa din!'"
Kailan Ba Tama Ang Mali? will premiere on February 9, on GMA Afternoon Prime.
