TRIVIA: What we know so far about upcoming action-adventure series 'Lolong'

Lolong is undoubtedly the Philippines' biggest primetime adventure series of 2021!
Kapuso leading man Ruru Madrid is the titular Lolong, a man who has the unique ability to communicate with the giant crocodile named Dakila.
"Si Lolong gusto niya simpleng buhay lang. Gusto lang niya makatulong sa Tiyo niya at Tiya niya dahil sa utang na loob. Ayaw niya sana ng mga bagay na kung ano-ano. Ngunit sa hindi inaasahang pagkakataon, siya pala ay hindi pangkaraniwanng tao," the actor says of his character.
The crocodile Dakila will also play a very significant role in the show. It will be brought to life by a combination of computer-generated imagery or CGI and animatronics.
"Actually, half 'to, e. Every sequence, we're going to use live animatronics Dakila, 'tapos CGI. So, dalawa 'yung gagawin ko, parating pagsasabayin sila. Animatronics and CGI, pagsasamahin ko siya. First time 'yun gagawin, ah," says series director Rommel Penesa.
Lolong is a production of GMA News and Public Affairs and will be Ruru's third show under them.
"I can't wait na magawa na po itong proyektong ito dahil it's been two years, three years na po yata, na pinaplano po itong proyekto na ito. Bago pa po mag-pandemic, marami na po tayong challenges na pinagdaanan but still hindi po natin sinuko dahil alam po natin at naniniwala tao sa proyekto na ito," he shared.
The cast of 'Lolong' met members of the media on June 20 to share updates about the much-awaited premiere of their show.
Ruru described all the challenges that the show production faced as "worth it."
'Lolong' is finally set to premiere on July 4, 8:00 p.m. on GMA Telebabad.
