Mikoy Morales

Mikoy Morales shares what he's proud about in 'Lolong' series.

More than any artistic and creative ingenuity, Kapuso funny man Mikoy Morales shares that he's proud about his upcoming Kapuso action-adventure series Lolong because of its potential eye-opening impact to the Filipino viewer in light of the country's present circumstances.

The much-awaited production features the lead character Dakila, the 22-feet animatronic crocodile who stars alongside series lead Ruru Madrid as they tackle various pressing social and environmental issues in the country.

In the series, Morales plays the role of Bokyo who is set to bring in the element of life and fun into the show.

"Sayang hindi umabot sa election, sa campaign period. It could have been a really good vehicle/device to encourage people to read between the lines," Morales said in a virtual interview with GMANetwork.com on Friday.

He further stressed that the series would further embark on inspiring every Filipino in becoming his own hero.

"Heroism nandoon of course ikaw mismo meron kang magagawa para sa pamilya mo, sa bayan mo, the change starts within you na you don't have to have power or super powers to be a superhero or to do good," he added.

"Sana naipalabas to bago mag-eleksyon kasi andami natin kailangan iprocess ngayon as a nation," he continued.

Mikoy does stunts

Meanwhile, Morales proves his acting chops go far beyond the realm of comedy as his character also gives into both drama and adventure with stunt-defying scenes he's done only for the first time.

"May sundot ng drama, actually medyo napasubo ako dito sa action. Oo ako 'yung comedic punchline dito lagi," he said.

He recounted a scene where he and Ruru would have to climb up towering coconut trees and do a scene. As the scene closed, he had to flex some muscles going down the tree manually.

It was indeed his first time to do such stunts but since then, he has welcomed more bone-stretching scenes as he nonetheless enjoyed pushing himself to the limits.

Aside from Morales and Madrid, other cast members include Christopher de Leon, Jean Garcia, Bembol Roco, Malou de Guzman, Rochelle Pangilinan, Ian de Leon, Shaira Diaz, Arra San Agustin, Paul Salas, DJ Durano, Marco Alcaraz, Priscilla Almeda, Maui Taylor, among others.

Aside from Lolong, Morales is also a regular cast at the longest-running gag show Bubble Gang. He's also inked another contract with GMA Artist Center.
