EXCLUSIVE: Dennis Padilla gears up for a new soap in the Kapuso network

Actor Dennis Padilla is returning to GMA with the afternoon drama series Magkaagaw.

During the show's pictorial, the 57-year-old actor and comedian had nothing but good things to say about the network.

“Exciting kasi parang its a new family again.

“My first 14 years on TV is with GMA. I started my career in Lunch Date while Randy Santiago was hosting in the same studio. The noontime show Lunch Date was done here, right here.

“The career of Randy Santiago was right here kung saan tayo nakatayo ngayon, so it's a nostalgic but exciting feeling to be back,” he shares exclusively with GMANetwork.com.

The comedian said he had no problem taking on a new role for the drama series and working with the younger generation.

“Last month tinawagan ako ng manager ko at sinabi niya na babalik ako sa GMA kasi may bagong teleserye na comic relief ng show.

“Happy naman ako kasi sa lahat ng characters, ako 'yung comic relief, 'yung nagpaparelax sa otherwise very dramatic show,” he said.

Dennis works closely with Kapuso actor Jeric Gonzales, whose character Jio, is the nephew of his character. According to Dennis, they have a good working relationship with one another despite only having taken a few scenes.

“Siya pa lang 'yung lagi kong nakakasama kasi hiwalay palagi 'yung eksena namin with the other actors.

“Pero ang ginagawa kong atake this time around is that I say my advice in a funny way but you can see it in my eyes that I meant it. Nagbibiro pero nakikita mo sa mata ko 'yung lalim ng biro ko.

“Kumbaga, 'di ba usually kaming mga comedian once we deliver a joke or two 'pag 'di ka mabilis it's a double bladed sword pala.

“Now kung may meaning ka, makikita mo where I'm going and where I'm coming from and ganun din 'yung character ko.

“Ang pinaglalaruan ko is light lang ang bitaw ng advice ko pero malalim pala 'yung paghuhugutan.”

Magkaagaw will premiere this October on GMA-7.
